May 31, 2016   /   byFree Designs Admin  / Categories :  Free Printables, Free Project, Free Sewing Patterns

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Fusible web applique
  • Sewing tiny pieces
  • Darts
  • Curved sewing
  • Applique whipstitch
  • Basting
  • Lining up pattern markings
  • Ladder stitch

Pattern Description:

This project was both inspired by the Japanese homonym where ‘koi’ means both ‘carp’ and ‘love’ and the beautiful yin-yang moon spirit carp from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Together the carp nestle into a yin-yang pattern, and their matching markings form a heart shape. A wonderful gift for someone you love.

Minky is used in the sample plush photo, and I suggest using a similar stretchy plush fabric like fleece for this pattern.
